SUMMER PROGRAMMING!
Last year, I ran summer camps that were 2 hours (10-12 OR 1-2) 4 days a week.  They were themed camps that focused on reading, spelling, vocabulary and written work. Most of the kids I saw were boys between grades 1 and 5.  THIS YEAR I am wanting to know what the interest level would be if I ran a camp that was 6 hours (9am-3pm) geared toward older students (gr. 6-9- and possibly gr. 10-12) that focused mainly on reading, spelling, decoding sounds, written work, visual and auditory memory.  I would love to run this camp as I know there are lots of kids out there who have difficulty remembering details of what they read, or have read to them.  I am trained in a great program that gives them the tools to picture what they hear. The more they can picture it, the more details they have to write about later. We also focus on spelling and reading simultaneously.  Sessions are fast paced and interactive.  The first thing parents, teachers and students notice is self confidence goes up! They see it working, they answer to questions asked and they become motivated to keep going.  Things makes sense to them.  When using this program the students are never 'wrong', even if they are totally 'wrong' and call a /b/ a /p/, I'll answer it with a positive immediately. Eg. "Your right, you do use your lips for that sound, but do you use your voice? And which one did we say is 'noisey' (uses voice)"  I ask them questions that I know they know the answer to and eventually we get to the end result. "OH, that is a /b/ because it is 'noisey'. That is a /p/...it is quiet and doesn't use your voice.'" YES- you got it, now make the change. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!:)
This program is excellent for any age.  Please contact me if you have any questions.
